Pflegezentrum Augustenstift Schwerin

Büro Franke was contracted to design this care centre after coming out on top in an open architectural competition. The centre not only contains short-term care wards but is also a pilot project as the first shared accommodation facility for dementia patients in the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The basic architectural structure of the building complex forms a three-quarter circle that encloses a central round outdoor area where residents can sit and chat. Büro Franke was commissioned to handle all performance phases from the design to site management (performance phases 1–9).
