The Gewerbeschule 1 vocational school is an ensemble of buildings dating back to the Gründerzeit period and the 1960s. After the full renovation of the existing buildings, the entire workshop wing was replaced with a new building, and a recreation hall was additionally added to the old building. Büro Franke was contracted directly by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to handle all performance phases from the design to site management (performance phases 1–9).
