The Schlump One building complex was originally constructed in the 1960s before being converted in the 1980s. The latest revitalisation measures, which only left the building shell intact, involved modernising the entire building envelope and giving the entire development a contemporary fit-out based on the individual tenant requests of each user group. The rear area of the building complex is home to a private university, where a bunker complex was converted into lecture theatres. The architecture firm Büro Franke was contracted to handle performance phases 6–9 on behalf of the planning architects, the Berlin-based firm J. Mayer H Architekten.
